Let's Talk Eyelashes

Images of Lash Extensions

This is a question I get all the time. Are lash extension worth it? I naturally have very short stubby eyelashes and my whole life I felt self conscious about my lashes. I tried at least 50 different brand of mascara to see if any of them actually would make them look longer and fuller. The answer was NOPE. High school is when I ditched the mascara and wore false strip lashes EVERYDAY. EVERYDAY I would put on these fake strip lashes with the glue. I would rip them off at the end of the day to have the glue all clumped in my natural lashes and on the lid. If you have ever worn fake strip lashes you know this glue is EXTREMELY hard to get off. I was sick of paying for these fake strip lashes I could maybe get five uses with and that's even pushing it. I could image I spent hundreds of dollars on these fake disposable lashes over the four years of high school. I went to college and started to wear less makeup, I wouldn't even bother with mascara or fake lashes anymore it was to much of a hassle. I started to look into eyelash extension, I figured it would be perfect ! I would roll out of bed and BAMB I would have these long natural lushes looking lashes without doing anything! Seemed totally worth it to me. I ended up coming come from school for a weekend and I heard about this new lash salon coming in about 45 minutes away from my house. In order to get their name out there they were doing FREE full set lash extensions. Keep in mind a full set of lash extension are very price, around $200. And this place was doing it for FREE. That is when I made my decision, it was the perfect timing. I ended up getting my full free set and have been getting lash extension fills since. It has been about eight months since then and I absolutely love them. Down below I will list some basic question I get about my lash extensions.

  • How much does a full set cost?
    • Depending on where you go they can be anywhere from $150 to $200+. It is not cheap but this is a one time fee just to get the lashes all on.
  • How often do you have to get them filled & how much does it cost?
    • Most estheticians that do lash extensions recommend getting a fill every two weeks, which is what I do. Depending on how the condition of your lashes are and how many you have left at the end of two weeks is up to you. Longest I have heard of someone going is about 3 1/2 weeks. I go to a spa to get my lashes done and I pay $65 every two weeks.
  • Do they damage the real lashes?
    • If you go to the right place that is certified to do lash extensions the NO they will NOT damage your natural lashes. The glue they use is a surgical glue that estheticians apply to the real lashes however, they are suppose to leave space between the root of the natural lash that way the natural lashes can still grow as normal. Before you go anywhere make sure the place is properly certified.
